The web service IDOS - idos.cz offers many advantages in the area of searching for public transport connections in the Czech Republic. Some of the main advantages are listed in this article.

  • Connection database:
IDOS includes all types of public transport, such as buses, trains, public transport (public transport) and some boat services. This makes it easy to find the most suitable connection between different means of transport.
  • Up-to-date timetable information:
The website regularly updates timetables, ensuring accurate information on current connections, including delays or route changes.
  • Clear and intuitive interface:
The website is user-friendly and makes it easy to enter the origin and destination, be it cities, towns or specific stops.
  • It is possible to combine different means of transport:
IDOS allows combining different modes of transport (e.g. train and bus), offering the most efficient route including transfers and time optimisation.
  • Ability to filter connections:
Users can filter connections according to different criteria such as departure time, type of means of transport or preference for direct connections without transfers.
  • Recommendation of the fastest routes:
IDOS automatically recommends the fastest or cheapest connection based on the current timetable and availability of connections.
  • Mobile access:
The website is also optimised for mobile devices, allowing convenient use on the go without the need for a dedicated app.
  • Ability to purchase tickets online:
For some connections (especially trains), IDOS allows you to directly purchase tickets online, saving time and simplifying travel.
  •  Information on closures and special events:
The system provides alerts on current closures and incidents that may affect traffic and suggests alternative solutions.

In order to find the connection, you need to enter the starting object in the From field and the destination object in the To field, or add a specification in the Through field for transit points (only possible for the extended entry form). If From or To is left blank, the connection cannot be searched. When typing these entries, the so-called Whisperer is active, which automatically offers objects that match the entry and prompts for refinements.

Using the folder + Other timetables, you can define the timetable or combinations of timetables in which the connection will be searched.

The Direct connections only toggle determines whether only direct connections or connections with transfers are to be searched among the objects entered in the From and To fields. If direct connections are searched, connections that may not be time-optimal are included in the search list. By clicking on the Over field (in the extended version of the input), the form can be refined by adding a field for a point that is mandatory on the route. This field can then be further extended to up to three entries.

The Today (default for the date field) and Now (default for the time field) input fields can be used to enter the desired departure/arrival date and time (see below). If the default settings for these fields remain, the search for the current date and current time will be used. You can use calendars to enter the date or time, or use the arrows to set the date and time, or enter numbers. The Departure/Arrival switch determines whether the specified date and time are treated as the date and time of the earliest possible departure from the object in From or the date and time of the latest possible arrival to the object in To when searching for a connection.
